Kate Smith, the artist behind every pack

The illustrations on our packs are the work of Kate Smith, our dear friend and a local Bendigo artist. Each design is painted by hand.

Kate paints Australian native flora and fauna from her home in Bendigo, and her work is on every Little Puggles carton, pouch and pack. Each nappy size carries its own animal-and-plant pairing, painted for that size alone. A small thing, but we wanted every carton to feel like a small piece of Australia.

Little Puggles is one corner of Kate’s world. Under Kate Smith Art she paints originals and prints, from native florals and fauna to the odd quirky dog in sunnies, and shows her work at markets around Bendigo and central Victoria.

New pieces land on her Instagram first.

Nappy pants: emu and wax flower on Size 3, cockatoo and flowering gum on Size 4, echidna and pink bottlebrush on Size 5, wombat and wattle on Size 6. On the wipes, a quokka, a galah and an echidna share the pack.

Part of the family story

Kate’s paintings sit alongside the rest of the Little Puggles story: a Bendigo family business designing the products we use on our own bub.
